Luxman M-4000 Mod.

Ok,I am picking up my Luxman M-4000 this week and wanted to share a design flaw that we discovered the plastic clips that hold the pc boards in place and are conductors distort over time and warp pic included they hard-wired each pc board and put them back in. If anyone wants to use this guy he says he can do them much faster now that he has spent all this time figuring it out.

Any follow up on how it sounds now after your rebuild?

I think it sounds more stable but my guy says he does not think it will make it sound better I think he is wrong. Same sweet sounding 1976 amp.

Are you talking about M4000 or M4000A ?

Your " mod " is time consumming and using brand new connectors would fit perfectly instead the damaged ones .
Sound better , certainly not

the one you called " smoked " is like that because somebody re-connect the board without dsicharging the power supply .
This is not the first Luxman I saw like this one but I always regret that people who owns this kind of unit give it for " check up " to non experimented guy
What a huge job your tech did to clean all the damaged contacts ....

M-4000 model, you don't think it would change the sound of the amp with all those hard-wired connections
