Considering a Luxman integrated...

I like the a/b speakers as I have two sets of speakers in an L shaped room configuration that makes two listening spaces.
Have never heard one but like the looks and they get great reviews.

Basically trying to upgrade the vinyl play and I though maybe if I sell my current Shindo pre and amp I could get a much better cartridge and/or table...and get a Luxman integrated that will sound hopefully great and if not good enough...

Any one gone from tubes to Solid State Luxman----such as L-550uxII?
Or should I consider Luxman tube like a L 380?

FYI- I have efficient speakers so dont need lots of power.

The L-80V is a classic and quite cool looking, I owned one for a few years and foolishly sold it.

Loves me some Luxman still have a M-2000 power amp along with a R-115 receiver had a 1040 & 1070 too

If you meant the L-550Axii, the class A one, that's the one I would go for on a do-over, and I would expect it to be more competitive with tubes than the class A/B ones like my L-505u.

However, if your Shindo has a phono preamp, it might be like throwing the baby out with the holy water...

If your table/arm can handle a London Decca Super Gold, it upgraded my vinyl play as much as the Fosgate Signature, and the combination seems more than the sum of its parts.
 
I am looking at the 550axII....My Shindo Pre is an Aurieges w/MM...the phono stage is excellent. I am going to possibly sell Shindo Montrachet first and keep pre so I can compare with pre section of Luxman...

Recently, I heard the L-505uxII with some Danish bookshelf speakers. It was set up for vinyl, at a shop in Virginia.
The bass was substantial, tight, but not boomy; the midrange was nothing short of amazing; the highs were very nice, but not quite as well presented as the midrange.
It's a helluva component.

My two cents.

What shop was that in Virginia...would love to actually hear one of these...
 
The newer L-50x series from Luxman (L-505uXII, L-507uXII, L-509x) are Class A/B but biased to offer the first few watts in pure Class A.

I can't speak for the L-505uXII, but my L-509X is biased to offer the first 6 watts as Class A. My speakers are 90dB efficient so practically all of my listening sessions are in Class A. Pretty sweet sounding integrated! :thumbsup:

Luxman doesn't specify this on their website, but I confirmed the specs with Luxman directly.
 
The 509x is on my list of solid state amps to own someday. I was too cheap to spring for it and went with a Yamaha A-S2100 instead. I prefer E core transformers like these Luxmans have. And yes, yours has much more class A power than the Yamahas have, which is a big plus.

If I hit the lottery, I'd be looking into the Luxman 900U series separates. I hear they are poised to release an updated set of separates soon. On Lux Japan's site they are already viewable but not for purchase.
 
Ended up buying Luxman 509axII. Very pleased...a bit more bright than what I am used to but better detail and bass...I wouldnt say it is better than my Shindo gear but I am planning on selling Shindo separates as I am enjoying the simplicity of this Solid State integrated...It is a sweet integrated!

Congrats on your purchase.

But, did you get the L-590axII or the L-509X?
 
I went from a VAC Tube Pre with SS or Hybrid Amp to a 505UXII for several reasons.
Will drive almost anything and power is under speced
HT Bypass
Line Direct
Has Tone Controls and Loudness but never used (there for resale)
Phono section is awesome and you would probably need to spend $1200 to better it.
XLR input (now used with new Rotel 1572)

I do love tubes but did not want to play with them anymore, just want to turn on the system and play music.

I have no regrets, it drives my Fynes with ease.
