Hey Folks,
I have often thought of adding a powered sub to my system. I have found an M&K MX-125 subwoofer for $100.

What do you folks think?
I have heard a lot of good about M&K, but also a little bad. I tried to llok up the cost of these too with no success. The mx-125II has a list price of $1200

So, any opinions on this beast?

Thanks in advance.

I would grab it. I have two MX-90's that I use as dual subs in my music system. These are truly incredible and I paid $200 each so $100 is a bargain for a higher model IMO.

Is it MX-125 or MX-125 MKII?
MKII has few improvements.
Regardless, $100 for a decent subwoofer is cheap price.
Even 8 inch generic brand costs more than that new.

I am PM'ing you about another that is at whole another level...

I have M&K satellites and love them. I'm not sure what you've heard bad about the brand, but I haven't...

I didn't say they are bad. Actually, M&K is very nice and well regarded brand.

I was just giving heads up to Mark about another sub that's locally listed and is highly regarded.
When subwoofer is in question, does SVS come in mind?
I'm pretty sure that M&K sub can not even come close to the SVS sub.

it is the mx-125, not the MKII

I think I might be able to get it for a bit less, but I'll have to see.

I'll be back

If you don't want it, tell me where it is..lol.
M&K, real M&K are musical and good for home theater..
SVS is a home theater brand, IMO.

I am running two MX-70 subs in stereo and they sound great for music and pretty good for HT. They don't go as low or as loud as the third sub I turn on for movies (Axiom EP500 ver.2) but they blend in better with my panel speakers. Sealed subs seem to work better for music than ported subs do imho. And 2 subs definitely sound better than just one.

If the sub is in good shape I would say go for it, especially at that price.

Not you... the OP said "I have heard a lot of good about M&K, but also a little bad."

I was just too lazy to hit the quote button on his post... sorry about the confusion. So, what bad has been said about M&K speakers?

I read a few reviews where people had problems or failure with the electronics. But only a few. I can't say I read anything about the performance.
That is it...............
