Magnavox CDB 650 Questions

Hi Everyone:

I recently acquired a Magnavox CDB650 on Ebay in very good to near mint condition which works well. It did not come with the remote or the manual.

Does anyone have a copy of the manual that they could email me or direct me where one could be downloaded for free?

Secondly, can anyone explain the function of the second set of RCA jacks marked "Additional Filtering". I am confused as to what is the difference between the regular set of jacks next to the coaxial output, and this set.

Suggestions and advice are most appreciated. Thanks.

For as far as I know, the Magnavox is a Philips CD 650. Here you can find some nudie-pics.
The Magnovox will work with any Philips or Marantz (cd)remote. As for your other questions: sorry, don't know. I only know that when this model came out I really wanted it, as it had some pretty good reviews. So congrats. :)
 
That is one serious CD player my friend!
It still can go for some high $$$ on e-bay.
A great sounding CD player that is very mod-friendly.....thus WHY is still in demand after 20+ years.

Some random info... The CDB 650 and CDB 560 use the same CDM 2/29 laser block. The tray mechanism on many of the early models are the same and can be interchanged. Cal Audio's original Aria was based on a Magnavox and so the transport and tray mechanism are the same. Magnavox remotes will work the Aria.
 
The "additional filtering" jacks add more analog filtering at the player's output. The signal at these jacks has a small rolloff (1-2 dB, if memory serves) in the top octave. I've never used them on my '650.

The CD drive in this player will play just about any CD or CD-R you can throw at it. It will not, however, play CD-RWs.
 
Good player. Very loved by tweakers and the high end audiophiles. CDM2 transport (swing arm). One of the best players of the day. Should play CD-R discs fine. Nice sounding. Still holds value well.
 
CDB 650 remote

Hello CDB 650 users:

My 650 from around 1987 sounds as good ever, and I'm not going to make A/B comparisons with any other player.

What's as remarkable is that I still have the remote, and the remote still works, and I've never changed the batteries! But HOW do I change the batteries. I've removed the one screw that's visible on the back of the remote, but I still don't see what part of the back is supposed to come off as is not explained very well in the manual.
