The -ish means centuries ago had a SoundFestival Harmon Kardon tube reciever amp, with Boston Acoustics (can't remember) it happens.

For the last 3 weeks I've been given more electronics other than computers than I've ever seen or can remember what to do with (I read the FAQ's) let's keep it clean.

Scopes, Meters, Frequency Generators -
Also have been wading through -

SARAS and Sansui speakers
Sansui and Onkyo Amp's
Teac, Pioneer, AKAI, etc. Cassette decks.
and receivers.

So, I now find myself trying to remember what's probably been forgotten since the 70's.

Will want to test the speakers and I remember some type of tape, cassette or CD for reading a scope for peaks - Good vs. Bad tones.
Course I can't remember how the darned scopes work (slight chemical induced stroke) not drugs, Chemicals in the 80's.- was working in a genetic lab.

Hoping for some help - or links to help.
Thanks

Can't help answer your question,
but welcome to AK from another Mainiac.

Be patient,I'm sure someone here will have an answer.

Cheers,Barry

Welcome to AK. There are a number of CDs available with test tones - Rives Audio and Stereophile both make them, for example. The Rives Audio is nice because it has tracks calibrated to the response of the Radio Shack sound level meter.

Welcome to AudioKarma. One can use the oscilloscopes, meters and frequency generators to test signal fidelity of all kinds of audio equipment. You may be able to find books on how to operate an oscilloscope in your local library or the nearby community college library. Of course, you can always ask specific questions here at AudioKarma. Pictures always help. Good listening.
