Marantz 2220

I just picked a 2220 at a yard sale for $20! I have opened her up and replaced all the fuse type bulbs by the dial plus the meter bulb. I have also cleaned her up including the use of tuner cleaner on all the switches/pots, followed by the application of anti-corrosive lubricant.

The "STEREO" light does not light up and it has two bi-amp bulbs. Do these require soldering on the 2220? I will take a couple of pictures tomorrow. Thanks.

I'm pretty sure that the stereo lamps solder in. Make sure that you get the right lamps, you can damage the MPX chip if you use the wrong lamps. AK member dgwojo should know what goes in the 2220.

The 2220, I've run into people with a single 8v/40ma bi-pin stereo lamp, while others had a pair of 6.3v/40ma bi-pins in series, maybe someone will have a pair of 8v/40ma bi-pins in series next?? :scratch2: I'd check to see if the base of the lamps are marked, and yes, they're soldered in, I like to use a solder sucker to make removal easy, Dave.

I have that exact model and I agree... it works great although a little big for tight spots. I wish it was at a 45 degree instead of 90. Can't beat it for the price.

Radio Shack ... here I go. BTW, I replaced the fuse style light bulbs and the dial although lit is not very bright (see picture below) any suggestions on why? Thanks.

Wrong lamps? They should be 8V 200mA.
Universal power model, voltage selector set wrong?

Tom

Thanks for the information Tom. The "bulbs" are supposed to be the right specs but since there is doubt I ordered a new set from fellow member dgwojo. As far as the voltage I hope you are wrong since I have been using the unit for a couple of days at the office. However if by any chance it has a voltage selector switch where would it be located?
