Marantz 2270 restoration

Cleaned up after a messy tech.
I used Nichicon caps throughout except for the filters which were upgraded to 10,000uF 100V Panasonic caps.
I didn't get to all of the tuner boards though, because I didn't want to chance messing anything up.
I got the DC offset to 0 mV in each channel and the PS voltage up to exactly 35V DC.
Buttoned her up and all is well!

Thanks!
There are more boards underneath that are not pictured, but I forgot about them until after I had hooked it up and screwed all 10 case screws on...

Looks good!
Are you aware of the service bulletin to replace those cylindrical temp compensation transistors on the heat sinks?
You will have to either make your own bracket, or just cut, bend and drill the existing one so that it holds the bias diode and the new transistor. Don't forget to to add a mica insulator to keep the collector from contacting the heat sink.

I want it. My first Marantz tuna was a 2270, and oh how I miss it. It was stolen from my apartment with a pair of HD 770's and an Akai turntable in 1989 while I was in the Navy.

Very nice clean Job! I want to see more pics!

Peace,

Phil

I was not, but the owner JUST picked it up a few minutes ago.

Nice looking work! You're gettin' lots of units repaired and out the door, must be fun to have the opportunity to work on all these different units. I like working on different gear, it all expands your skill set.

Yeah, it's about 2 or 3 units every week. Very fun for me.

Wow, that looks very nice. I am so envious! I wish I had more Marantz to recap, so much fun. They are impossible to find where I live. I will have to hold on to mine forever.

Tom,
Wow- that's a very early 2270 you have pictured (or maybe Canadian or European). I'm guessing it is probably a "gold" embossed version?

Don,
The one in the picture I posted was built in '74 and is a multi-voltage version.
It belongs to an AK member in Washington state and is a real beauty.

Thank you for all of the kind words.
This is the first Marantz I've done other than the last two 2220b's, but those are child's play as far as complexity goes.
