Marantz 2270 restoration

Nevermind, had a free bit of time:

Old relay says LY20240040
new one says LY2-0 24vDC

both assemblies are identical other than the pin style, the spacing is correct lengthwise

Use THIS one...you will need to cut some pins but it's the exact same type and a bit cheaper than others. They have proved to be very reliable. It also looks very cool because the plastic covering is shaded slightly blue.

I must say that is very strange, at least to me. It looks like an MY2 to me with lug style pin termination but it has LY2 stamped right on it!

Hrm. My other 2270 says MY2 in raised plastic but then is printed with LY20240033... mechanics look the same.

Yes, nearly. Due to the Datasheet is has an additional LED indicator. (MY2N-DC24S)

If you want it without the LED, this should be the same from mouser, as far as I can see: (MY2-DC24S)

This is it in natural:

Yes, looks like your old relay has the wrong stamping on it. Or the wrong cover. It is an MY style relay.

:beerchug:

The original had those solder lug terminals? The pinout looks like an MY2. With PC board terminals, it would be a MY2-02-DC24, with solder-lug terminals, it would be a MY2-DC24.

Mine had those solder lug terminals in the 2245 and 2270.

2245 relays solder side:

The old relays are twin contact relays.
EW, do you know, if they are still available? I think they have a longer lifetime because of the two contacts for each channel.

Or is this not a matter with the new ones?

The old relays are twin contact relays.
That would be a 4PDT relay.
EW, do you know, if they are still available?
Of course they are.
I think they have a longer lifetime because of the two contacts for each channel.
The lifetime has everything to do with how much current you're putting through each contact, and thus only indirectly with how many contacts there are. But most of the time you're stuck with using whatever was there to begin with, so it's usually a moot point.

That would be a 4PDT relay.

Thanks, Glenn.

Maybe I couldnt explain right -my english is not the best- but I did not mean the 4PDT relay.

But the DPDT 2contact models. But with 2 switching contacts for each channel. Like this old one:

If one contact fails, the other will still work? But maybe, I am totally wrong.... :scratch2:

Sir.Byrd, keep us updated with your 2270!

I love all restauration threads here! :thmbsp:

That's an old-style MY2 relay (DPDT). Don't see those anymore. If they were better than the new-style, I'd think Omron would still be making them. At least that's my explanation. Write Omron and ask them...
