I have just picked up a 2500 and I have a couple of problems(probably more). First of all this is a pretty rough looking unit with many screws missing in the case. I say that upfront so you know someone has been in the unit at some point in it's life that probably should not have been. There are issues with the unit but there is a lot that is working also. I looked over the 2500 threads here and they were very helpful. Anyways....Lets get to my most pressing issue. The hurricane force fan speed. I'd like to get that fixed so I can hear something else. The soft start relay does not operate at power up and the fan runs on high as long as the unit is powered up.The Soft Start relay is hooked to it's plug but the relay's plastic case is no where to be found. So it's looks like someone was messing with it. In addition it was just leaning on it's side lose in the chassis. I looked around here for a solution so I checked the soft start and fan speed resistors. They were fine. I have the service manual. I have a "Type P" chassis so my soft start resistor is 22 ohms not 10 ohms like it appears most 2500's are. You can find this "Type P" circuit on the 2500's schematic for the USA and Canada near the bottom right corner. I'm sure someone here knows what that "Type P means? I didn't see anything in the service manual but maybe I missed it. That kind of of confused me because all I could find in conversations was the soft start resistor being 10 ohms. As I said this unit has been messed with so I'm suspect of everything. I was going to just order another relay but I couldn't find one to order. Does anyone know of a replacement for the 2500's soft start relay? I could not find one. Now let me say also that the speaker relay operates normally and the unit does make decent sound from both the left and right channels. Thank you in advance for any help someone may be able to give.
