Hello....need a little help. Have a 6300 Turntable with a bad motor...other than that in great shape. The cover of the motor gives a number PM2330002 (17th Aug 1976). I can pick up a used motor that has the number PM2330001 (also built in 1976). Is there any issue in swapping out this motor with the broken one? Appreciate any advise on this!

I am not an expert or even a novice on this. I did some searching but found nothing definitive on the difference between those part numbers. They are both direct drive motors but the difference may be one is for US and the other is European? There are many very savvy folks here and I’m sure someone will be able to help.
Bump for someone that can help Gtown out!

I found this text in an ebay ad for a capacitor kit for the PM2330001 motor:

"Up for sale here is this complete recap kit for the Pioneer KXM-021-A motor and the Marantz PM2330001 motor (and I believe the KXM-021-E motor too). This motor was used in several different Pioneer turntables, including the PL-51, PL-55, PL-55D, PL-55X, PL-55DX, and PL-71. It was also used in the early Marantz 6300 turntables. It is not used in ALL of those, so this kit is only if your motor says "KXM-021-A" or "PM2330001" on it. This will take care of most of the circuit-board-related issues you will see with these motors, except if you have bad transistors, which is rare but possible. This motor uses 3 2SC1346 (replace with KSC2383), 4 2SC828 (replace with KSC1845), and 4 2SA564 (replace with KSA992). I have these replacement transistors listed on eBay."

So it does seem that the circuit board components driving the PM2330001 motor is different than the 0002 motor. Another consideration is whether it is not simply the motor in your turntable that is bad. Have you been able to check all the circuit board components in your turntable to make sure they are okay and not contributing to (or even causing) your motor problem?

Thanks! All I know is the tech advised the motor was bad and needed to be replaced. He is well versed on Marantz equip, so I trust what he said. I also have received feedback on another forum that said that the motor is compatible with pitch pots from 1k to 5k (mine are 2k). Any adjustment (if needed) to get the strobe to stabilize at the correct speed would be the adjustment screws in the back of the motor itself. We will find out soon since I bought the motor!
