Marantz CD6006

I'm a US-based McIntosh guy -- but after a late February day at the Bristol Hi-Fi show, the largest UK consumer audio show, I saw nearly every exhibitor, including ultra bleeding edge and "bespoke" amp and speaker builders, who were demoing music on their systems in CD format, using Marantz CD players.

As I spoke to the exhibitors about their choice, I heard over and over that these were great units and no need to spend more.

So ... in need of a new CD player, with no desire to spend $5k or so on a McIntosh unit (no matter how wonderful it is), I ordered a CD6006.

For ~~~~ 10% the price of a comparable McIntosh unit, I received a wonderful player.

I'm using the analog out, through the Marantz on-board DAC, using decent but not way-up-there RCA cables, feeding into my MA5200 integrated amp.

Great sound. I'm very pleased.

How do they do it?

Just bought its UK Edition, B-stock for £249 + postage.

It’s a great CD player. I auditioned one, but went with the Emotiva player. I then went with an Oppo 105D, till the Sony UBP X1000ES blew it out of the water. Congratulations on your Marantz. Great sounding and built very nice too.
