Mc2200

Price discussions will be moved to D&S. That being said, it's getting REALLY difficult to find McIntosh power amps in this price range any more. The biggest problem I saw with MC2200s (I've had four or five) is the fact that the NORMAL bulbs are always burned out - this is a simple repair with commonly available parts. If you don't mind the industrial look, the MC2200 is a great power amplifier. The MC2200 was the very first SS McIntosh amplifier that I owned and I was very impressed with it.

The MC2120 and MC2200 were originally marketed towards the professional audio industry and touted as touring capable. McIntosh actually printed literature to that effect. They also were easily rack mounted via optional rack handles. As I've said before, a bunch of these found there way into skating rinks in the midwest driving Klipsch LaScalas and the like.

The MC2205 has quite a following. The MC2200 is the same amplifier less the glass face and meters. I'm sure you'd enjoy it.

I'll chime in before it gets moved to dollars and cents.....

At 600 dollars, it will probably need some work, you wont buy one at that price and just slip it into the system......they are more than 30 years old and will definitely be wanting some updating and maintenance...

That's like asking, "I'm looking at a Dodge Charger. Should I just save more and buy a Ford GT?"

You gotta' start somewhere. The MC2200 would be a great amp to get your feet wet.

Jump on it now, I got a 2205 about 6 years ago for $800, and I thought that was a great deal. it needed some work yes, but have you priced most of these lately? it's all gone UP not down. At that price if you hate it, you can get it refurbed and sell it at a profit, then buy something you like.
