silvertpt999,
Your points are valid about full rebuilds versus partial rebuilds. Everyone hears and perceives music and component changes differently, and so if this works for you, then that is great--please enjoy. I've rebuilt amps and other audio components and I've found that with replacing some components in the "name" of improvements, I actually took a few steps back in improvements in sound quality and regretted making the changes. I'm now more cautious about making sweeping changes in component changes with vintage gear. OneyedK's MC225 seems to be in great condition, and I recommended that he only change out those critical components as needed. If all of them need to be changed out, then all power to him to do so. That's the fun with DIY audio--we're at
liberty to do whatever we want to personalize our treasures to our personal tastes.
Merry Christmas all, and may a Mac component show up in your system in 2017!
