According to Chuck Hinton, Harry Pearson will review the MC2301 in the June issue of Absolute Sound Magazine. There will also be some kind of award announced in the May issue. Sounds like somebody liked what they heard!! Finally, a review of Mac's monster tube!:thmbsp:

I haven't had the pleasure. I am having trouble just finding dealers who have them available for auditioning.:sigh: Ted.

it is about time! I'm really looking forward to this one. About the only time i'll pick up a hi fi rag these days is if they review a Mc component

Beerdraft from this forum has these amplifiers. I have heard his system. It is amazing.

He hasn't been in here for a while. Maybe we had better shake him up so he can comment.

From the time I have spent listening to the MC2301s at the local stereo shop I have to say they may be the best amps I have ever heard. Smooth detail from top to bottom.

Victor, you now have the new MC75 mono amps, how close are they to the MC2301's
It's difficult to say because I have not heard the MC75s and MC2301s in the same room.

My overall impression is the MC75s are very close to the MC2301s.

Victor, That is a strong statement. I'm going to have to drive nearly two hundred miles to hear them, and I think it will be worth the effort! Ted.

I have heart both now. The MC75 indeed is beautiful, but the MC2301 plays in a different league. By the way, I have Quad ESL 2805 speakers and they well appreciated power. For both power amps a power cable upgrade made the lower end more powerful and controlled. I was under the impression, that the MC75 may have more of a tube sound in mid/high compared to MC2301. But the latter just has a more balanced way to express itself (and definitely more headroom). As pre-amp I used the C22 and the C1000 tube version. Also, connecting the MCD500 directly into each power amps was not bad at all. However, pre-amps definitely improved soundstage, bass-control and sweetness.
At the end of the day, it is a question of budget. I believe the MC75/C22 anniversary set is great for the price. Victor, can confirm that (by the way Victor, I came to your flat some time ago to listen to your equipment when Ric brought the tuner). Exchanging the C22 for a C1000 makes a huge difference, but also costs some money. Even more true for MC2301.

I was at the shop Tuesday after work, I saw the MC2301s in the back of a truck and heard they were heading your way. I still say the MC2301 are my favorite amps of all time.

I thought of taking home the MC2301s for a test but I'm happy with what I have now. I really don't want to do any upgrading right now so I don't want to hear what the MC2301s can do for my system. If I don't know what I'm missing, I won't miss it. :D

I had a chance to pick up one (!) MC2102 today. First impressions out of the box are very good! Believe it or not, imho it has the best lower-end of all 3 tubes I have heart until now. :scratch2:
Again, I listened some time to the anniversary set yesterday night without a/b comparission. Lovely, lovely; you certainly get a lot for the money.
