Mcd 201 help

I have mcd 201 cd player. Im using nordost red dawn xlr cables connected to mx 119 . When i listen to a cd it sounds just as good as playing it through ps3. I cannot tell the difference between mc 201 or ps3. I thought the mcd 201 would be far superior. Even SACD there is no diff Can someone help me

What is the rest of your system like? Amps? Speakers? Do you have the speakers positioned properly in the room? Room treatments of any kind? Bright/reflective room or not too bad? Sometimes when the setup is suboptimal, especially speakers or your room is too reflective, no matter what you plug in sounds the same. Finally, how are you comparing the two, is the PS3 hooked up to your MX119 via optical cable? Keep in mind that MX119 can impart its sonic signature heavily in this case as you are using not only the built in DAC for PS3 optical but the preamp section for both as well. I would compare the MCD201 directly to the amp and PS3 through MX119 to see if you hear a difference then.
