MCD 7008 CD Changer

Hello (My first post)
I have a MCD 7008 that plays single CDs like a champ. However, when I try to store CDs I have problems. The stacker will only store 3 CDs (in lieu of six). Once they are in storage, they are there for good. Can't retrieve. Drawer opens and closes fine. Seems to be an issue with stacking/storage. Any thought or suggestions for a fix. Kinda love this unit and don't want to part with it.

As a second issue, I bought new belts for it but, no laughing, I can't figure out where they are on the unit. Anyone have a picture or diagram?

YES ! your trouble is coming from the belts . You can do it if you are really meticulous .

They best way to act is to take the storage and CDM ass'y out of his actual localisation .

Watch carefully the belt because they are different and you should to be sure to put the right one to the right place !

Hey!

Thanks for that quick response. Looking forward to the pics. The unit has 4 screws under the bottom of the case which align with the mechanism, so I am going to assume that these screws will release the unit. Guess the front plate on the drawer needs to come off also.

Well, it wasn't the belts. Changed all 3 and still will not store disks. And for anyone who tells you that the belt replacement is a "snap"....make them come over and do it. Never again. Time for a good cd player.
 
very strange !

all MCD7008 with such trouble were working fine after belt replacement ...

Are you sure about the position of the lift ? don't you mix the belt ? If your electronic system load 3 it should load 6 !

Believe that I got everything right. The belts were actually labeled, but I checked length on each. In fact, it won't currently stack any CD's. Plays fine with a single disk. Made sure all belts in pulley grooves and all pulleys and gears worked smoothing manually. Actually can't get the 3 stored CDs out at this point. Such is life.
 
So you have a problem with the lift !

it is necessary to reset he mecanism of the lift . This is very difficult to explain it via typing messages ...
Don't forget that there is switches with confirmation of right position . If one is open (instead to be closed) nothing will work normally ..

That changer is a Nakamichi CD Player 3. The manual is available here. https://manualmachine.com/nakamichi/cdplayer3/3249603-service-manual/

I have 2 of them to service. The whole changer needs to come out and that requires removing the front panel - at least that is what I did. One belt is in the bottom rear, one is on the bottom right side and one is on the bottom front. You can see them on the diagrams. I guess you past that point, so the manual may help. The electronics are somewhat different since Mc integrated the remote into the front panel. So you need both the Mc manual and the Nak manual since the Mc manual does not have the changer in it.

Outstanding post - I'm researching how to get my 7008 apart to fix this issue - I really appreciate knowing now that the transport is a Nakamichi CD player 3 ! That helps a bunch. Now, hopefully, I'll be able to find the belts.
 
Someone had "worked" on the mechanism on the one I had a while back and it was jamming when the changer went up and down -- I ended up buying a parts Nakamichi-branded unit of an auction site with the same mechanism and did a swap -- worked great. The ones without the Mc tax on them sell for very cheap.
 
Hi Folks,

I’m still STUCK on that front belt. Haven’t had the motivation to return to it for two years. TWO YEARS. Since I can’t seem to move the mechanism out of the way due to that ERR message, how do I slide that belt underneath to get it on the pulleys?
