Mcintosh car audio?

The cd player wasnt working right at all. It works now. There was a nasty downpour and everything got soaked as I didnt have the top on. It took a day or 2 to dry it out. To a point where I felt safe to turn it back on. Now like magic the cd player works excellent. Maybe the lens was dirty? Or perhaps the parts that move the lens were stiff?

That's how your clear the error 6 with these units I guess????

It's a mess electronically as I'm working on a few things.

Back in the day Clarion contracted out with a few other audio companies to build car stereo systems to their design specifications. So for the Subarus, McIntosh designed the stereo system in conjunction with Subaru design engineers, then Clarion contracted with McIntosh to actually manufacture the components. This is why the components say McIntosh but if you look at the sticker on the head unit it actually says "Manufactured by Clarion." It's the same with the Nissan factory Bose systems- my 2003 Maxima says Bose on the head unit but if you pull it and look at the sticker it says Clarion on it. It's still got the McIntosh or Bose engineering inside, it's just that Clarion built them to those conmpanies' design specs.

Not entirely sure what I did to it. Was doing electrical work under the hood and basically killed the amp and or head unit. I checked fuses and internal fuses. Also checked power and grounds. So it died and its not worth bringing back. Kinda sad about that.

Interesting peice of "kinda real" mcintosh though.

What happened is. Starter was havin issues. To simply things I just replaced it. Then I went to start it. However battery was low on jam as it was on it's way out(old battery). So I gave it a wham from the charger. The jeep started but not the stereo. I think the head unit is fine and the amp is done.

It's a project vehicle. Guess I got to go a different direction with the stereo.

On the bright side I still got McIntosh speakers.
