Mcintosh tour

Went on a tour of Mcintosh today and it was awesome! Very cool to see how these fine machines are built. If anyone is in the general area of Binghamton, NY they should check it out. It's worth the drive.

Also, Audio Classics is a nice place to visit too. I thought the factory would have had a museum but Audio Classics does and it's nice to see the progression of the products.

So what did you buy? :)

I was able to visit D&M holdings showroom in Japan and that was super cool. Lots of exclusive Mac, Marantz, and Denon gear.

Unfortunately, I didn't buy anything...

But, I did get some ideas for future purchases!

I was going to drop off my 4100 at the factory for service but they said they're running 18 week wait. Audioclassic gave me a quote that I thought was too high so I'm holding off on getting it serviced. The problem I have with the 4100 is that the right channel is weak on the FM setting. Mac rep said the tuner needs to be aligned. Can also use a good cleaning with deoxit too.

Thanks for the suggestion but really don't want to send it, too much can go wrong. There's a local audiomplace that I took my Sansui to and they did a decent job. Figure that they can be trusted to clean it up and align the tuner... Not sure what I'm going to do yet because the phono stage isn't effected, other than an occasional channel cutting out but remedied by turning a few knobs to "clean it out".
