Today I picked up my new Sooloos Control 15 which I connected to the DAC of the Mcintosh C50.

:ntwrthy::ntwrthy::ntwrthy: What a wunderful combination! :ntwrthy::ntwrthy::ntwrthy:

The sound is absolut amazing, wunderful transparant, dynamic and smooth.

PS: Mcintosh was unable to bring til today me the original power cord for my C50! Unbelievable bad service; sea also:http://www.audiokarma.org/forums/showthread.php?t=358595

Here are some pics from the Sooloos with the C50 and one of my other Mcintosh systems with my beloved Linn 212 as loudspeakers

Using the DACs in C48/C50 with various digital sources, will often be a noticeable step up since you will be bypassing the digital volume control in the source. Digital volume controls always drop some information so should be avoided.

Thanks,

Hello Ron,

you are right. My CD Player MCD 7008 sounds like a complete new CD Player when I connect it to the DAC of the C50. Absolut amazing.
What a pitty, that my MCD 7000 doesn´t have digital outputs.

One question, should I put the Sooloos to the maximum for the volume. From the factory it came with 59% of 100 for the volume. Somebody told me always to put digital outputs to the maximum. Is this right?

Okay I will try 59%, 75% and 100% for digital volume output of the Sooloos. Tomorrow I will tell you what is the best.

Martin

PD: I love Mcintosh C50´s at night

Congrats on the new Sooloos Martin.

I've been using the Sooloos system with my McIntosh for close to a year now with great results. I always set the Sooloos volume to max, this sounds best to me.

The factory setting is there for people using Meridian speakers, it could be bad to turn the system on at full volume and hit play.

Also note: You can set the Sooloos to "Fixed Output" which is equal to max volume. Just set it to fixed and forget about it.

Fixed output is best. If a device does not have this then full volume and full bit is what you should set it.

Thanks,
Ron-C

Hello Victor,

thanks for your information. I set the Sooloos now to maximum volume (99%). But I couldn´t find fixed output in the setup which you mentioned.
Does the Sooloos Control 15 have fixed outputs? How can I find them in the software?

It's a little tricky finding the fixed output setting, here is the step by step instructions to get there:

Start on the home screen showing 18 album covers.
Press the "home" icon at the upper right corner.
Then select "system settings" from the drop down menu.
Then select "devices" at the lower left of the pop up window.
Then select "confirm".
Then select "zone" left side below the Control 15 line.
Then check the "fixed output volume" box.
Then select "apply settings" at the bottom right of the pop up window.
Then press the red X twice to exit back to the home screen.

Let me know if you have any questions on this.

Hello Victor,

thanks a lot for your information:thmbsp::thmbsp::thmbsp:. I made it and it works great. Sound is slightly better than on 59% digital volume out. Thanks a lot, I am absolutly happy.

PS: Almost absolutly happy, if Mcintosh would be so nice to send me my power cord cable for Mcintosh C50, than I would be completly happy. Maybe Victor you can resolve this problem too...
