Hi guys..

I just have a question for you all. I have the above mentioned little tube amp and i am looking to change the tubes in it. I found out that one of my Mullard EL84 tubes was bad a while back but just put the amp in the closet and used something else. Now i want to start using it again because I miss the tube sound. It presently has 2 Tung Sol 12AX7's, and 4 Mullard EL84 tubes. What would be some good replacement for these that are not expensive but has good quality sound? Thanks for all your kind help.

PS, I was looking at some JJ 12AX7 and EL84's. Would these work?

I use Sovtek 12AX7LPS with JJ EL84's in my P-P amp. The LPS tubes made a nice difference in the sound when I installed them... my $0.02.

Solvtek 12AX7s are great tubes... so are the mallard 12ax7s which are said to be selected versions of the Solvteks. Id buy a pair of the mallards and put the amp back to use... that way you have a spare... they are a good tube, though I prefer the solvtek EL84Ms.
