Minor Scroe? JVC receiver

^ Thanks for mentioning that, my confusion stemmed from the OP referring to the unit as a "R X 1"

Based on the link/pic it's a R-1X which are 2 different models. My initial posts and pics were based on a RX-1

Same scenario though 2 screws on each wood panel side and then 2 screws on the back unscrew them then slide the cover off from front to back.

If he's lucky it would be the 4 screws holding on the wood in same locations as the ones with metal case.
I agree with Dswanky, it's not rocket surgery, don't over think it.
If something this simple can't be performed without a manual, unless popping the top is only for a look see or minor cleaning, maybe not going inside the unit would be wise.

Yeah, I went by the pic. Until the OP returns we'll have no way of knowing which is the correct model. But the case removal instructions are basically the same for both, except possibly for the wood trim.

You need to get the spray inside the controls for it to work. Remove the cover, don't just spray the faceplate. In most cases simply spraying the outside (what you can see after removing the cover) of controls might not work and is a waste of product.
Use a small straw and look for any openings, vents, terminals coming out of the control and get the spray inside through them.
Deoxit usually comes with a straw, not sure about CRC. Pretty sure you should use CRC QD (quick dry) or CRC electronics cleaner if that brand is your preference.

Thank you. Yes, I have CRC electronics cleaner. I'll take off the knobs first. Sometimes have holes there. If not, try to attack from behind. Do some of these old receivers have to warm up to start sounding good again?

You could try turning all the knobs back and forth and back and forth multiple times with the power OFF.
Any switches you could flip in and out and in and out, again with the power off. Sometimes manipulating the knobs and switches can "clean" the mechanism enough to clear up any drop outs though it may not be a long term fix.
If you mentioned what issues you are trying to fix I missed it.
After using any fluid cleaner you need to let the cleaner have lots of time to dry. Overnight should do it. Sometimes switching the unit on with wet cleaner still not dried can lead to bigger issues.

The issues are some static in the volume knob, some intermittent trouble with the speaker selector and mode selector.
