Missing hdmi

I have a Denon avr-s530bt surround receiver and a Samsung smart tv 4000k with ARC.I can no longer get surround sound though the receiver. It used to work fine. When I go into tv sound setup I no longer see the hdmi option icon from the receiver. One time I shut of the power to everything and I was able to reboot it back to working. That went away after a short period of time. I don't know if the problem is in the tv or the receiver. Is there any way to tell without hooking up another tv or receiver to isolate the problem.

Don't want to assume that the only thing connected to the tv is the receiver via HDMI ARC. Do you have anything connected to the receiver other than the smart tv? If you do, are any connected via HDMI? If so, does that HDMI input produce surround sound?

There could be a problem with ARC and or the HDMI cable.

If your tv has a digital output (coax or fiber), you could try connecting the Denon t another HDMI input (not ARC) and then connect the tv back to the receiver via the digital output on the tv and see what you get.

Or you could try doing a complete reset on both the tv and the Denon and start from scratch.

Thanks for taking the time to reply. The Samsung tv comes with its own distribution box that's separate from the tv. It has a bunch of hdmi inputs and a large plug that plugs into the tv. It has one input for the ARC hdmi, which the arc hdmi from the receiver is plugged into .That is the only hdmi coming from the receiver. The blue ray and cable box plugs into the tv distribution box.
I haven't tried running every thing through the receiver. I like the ARC feature to make it easy to use one remote control. I did change the hdmi cable from the receiver to the distribution box and it made no difference. I wonder if something happened to the program in either the tv or the receiver. I'm not sure how to do a reset on the tv or the receiver although in the process of fooling with things I may have done a reset.
I haven't worked on it for a while ,I got frustrated and gave up. My wife last week asked me if I was going to use the sub woofer .She said If not can you get rid of it. It's interfering with her house plants. That made me realize I better get back to work on the problem and figure it out. I do miss the surround sound and would like to get it working again.

So you changed the cable, and you don't see the option on the receiver for the TV.
My next step would be to go digging through the settings on the TV. I've had updates change setting before. Power flickers too. If it's still set up to send the right thing out the right way, probably no fixing it.
See if you have a on screen menu for the Denon, if not read through the manual, could have a setting change in the receiver too.

Samsung smart tv 4000k
I've never even seen a 4M TV. Must still be under warranty. I was unaware we passed 8K.

Good catch on the 4000k.I'm used to led light bulb color spectrum. I got a little confused.
