Mongo Satamaria and mambo music

Time has told me...
Mongo Santamaria and mambo music

I found a Mongo Santamaria album at the thrift the other day. It's pretty good stuff. I've become a big fan of Mambo, Afro Cuban, and Salsa music lately. The local college station (WDCB) carries a show on Sundays called "Victor Parra's Mambo Express". Definately worth checking out. Any other fans of this genre of music and if so, how about some recomendations.
Thanks all.

Too big an area to really go into it. Recommend the various Buena Vista Social Club albums. Afro Cuban music made by Cuban legends of the genre. Widely available in the US, thus not hard to find.

Check out Tito Puente's "Dance Mania" and Tito Rodriguez's "Live At The Palladium" or "Mambo Madness" if you want to hear 2 masters at work. These are real classic recordings and a "must have" by anyone interested in mambo music. I can also recommend just about anything by Machito.
