Fist garage sale I went to today guy had these on the wall in his garage. $20 later and some old Cerwin Vega speakers I had laying around to replace them and they were mine.

Klipsch Heresys

I will have to say after giving them a good listen they are not my cup of tea. Seem like they would sound amazing on some tubes though. I had them hooked up to a Yamaha M-80. Very clear and nice sounding, just not enough low end for me.

Very nice find for the money! Yeah, try them with tubes , it will make a difference.

Like many other speakers with horns they usually sound best if you have a decent sized (not small) room.

I tried mine , moved them around, tried different amps, etc. Ultimately I decided they'd be better owned by someone else and I sold them to a friend along with some other pieces.... and he and his wife love them.

Though not the first time Ive heard a not enough low complaint..Id say give things a few days. I thought they were lacking until I got used to them...no they arent so good for dub, but otherwise they do well for themsleves I think.

Well the speakers lurking behind them are my normal main speakers and they blow these heresys away. But the price was right and I have always wanted to try out a pair. They will be moved along shortly

Can't beat that with a stick. I went yard sailing this morning......zilch, nada, nothing! Good job lwrs10.

Your (presumably) daughter looks like she agrees.

"hey DAD....where'sssssssssssss the beef?" :thumbsdn: <--your daughter giving her opinion :D

Also from what I've gathered over the years... you might have the Hersey's set up at their most perfect worst.

Let's face it, Heresy's have NEVER been accused of having too much bass....perhaps not even enough!

You might push them closer to the walls and perhaps even the corner to get some better reinforcement.

Also, putting them with a sub turns them into fine little units. I once had a handful of them (acquired from large estate sale purchase) and set them up in my living room.

On their own... fairly unimpressed. Once I added the sub into the mix, it was another ball game.

Seems your decision is made though. At least you gave them the chance in your home with your situation, gotta respect that!

hahaha.

last time i had a beautiful blond limited numbered heritage series heresys in my listening room, it took 1 hour for them to exit the room....and i spent half of that time just looking at 'em.

Nice pick up. I never get these $20 Klipsch deals. :tears:

I like the way speakers with horns sound. I'll give you $40 for them. Double your money. :D

I always cleen them up nicely or refinish them in 3-4 hours. They always seem to bring $450.00-$500.00 from the Heresy lovers. That also makes me a Heresy lover.:D

Yes, I would not give up on them yet. With a quality sub it is a whole nother ball game and thats no joke. You can't hardly beat them for their accuracy and they image great as well. I put W-Bass Bins under mine and was rather shocked at the transformation. I suppose a sub would do the same. And those things can go ridiculously loud and stay clean and unbroken doing it as well. For the money you invested in those you would be doing yourself a disservice if you didn't try a quality sub with them.

Take the backs off and stuff the cabinets. Change the single cap to a poly cap. You'll thank me.

Before passing on them, try what has been suggested:

Replace the cap with a nice poly cap.
Stuff the cabinets.
Stick 'em over bass bins or add sub(s) to fill in the bottom end.
Experiment with positioning near corners.
Try tube amplification.

Then if you still don't like them, you can always sell them for a nice profit.

:scratch2:... Why am I suddenly thinking of Linn turntables? :D
