Sir Thrift a Lot
I just got a Japanese Quiex copy of "Every Picture Tells a Story" from @multichamp12 and as always it will be a highlight of my collection. I was so anxious to hear it that I put it on without cleaning it (always a mistake with 50 year old vinyl, no matter how clean it looks) so there are some clicks, but I feel certain they will clean away. However, even in this state, this copy of this album is BY FAR the best sounding version I have heard of it. We've all heard Maggie Mae a million times, yet I am hearing bits that I've never noticed before. The real highlight is Mandolin Wind, which is so densely layered as to usually sound like a "sound blob", one big sound at the expense if the individual instruments. This pressing is so articulate that you clearly get each instrument separately, but not at the expense of the interconnected wall of sound that you are used to hearing. I wish I could come to your homes and play this for you. It's amazing.
Ethan also gave me a break for taking "Never a Dull Moment" also, which is quite excellent as well. Long live Japanese vinyl! Thanks as always Ethan.
