Music for when one is tired.

G'day all, it's been a curious day today, not particularly busy this morning but it was rather busy this afternoon, and coupled with a fairly heavy duty exercise bike session late this afternoon, right now at 8:10 pm I do feel a mite tired and some nice music is probably called for although I don't feel like putting a record on.

I might just fire up my FM tuner on our National Classical Music station and hope that they have something soothing to relax to. All this makes me wonder if there is music particularly suitable for when one is tired? :scratch2: Regards, Felix aka catman.

You have to be careful because if the music is too soothing, it might put you to sleep, and then what's the point?

This one works for me. Its brilliant.

Rachmaninoff - Window in time :music:

I recently burned a CD for music when I am tired.
Wagner's Tannhauser
Schubert's Quintette in C Major, the Adagio
Coltrane's I'm Old Fashioned from Blue Train

Michael Vetter

"Overtones / Voice and tambura" (wergo spectrum)

Karlheinz Stockhausen

"Stimmung" (Deutsche Grammophon)

By the way there is NO instrument I like MORE than the tambura. The only instrument that touches my innermost Self. Listen to Michael Vetter, Felix, you probably will like his album.

Stimmung is a true masterpiece. Has a nice stimmung to it. :thmbsp:

Donald Fagen - "The Nightfly"

I always felt that "New Frontiers" and especially "Maxine" were incredibly-relaxing (Those harmonies sound SO-nice through a decent pair of speakers). I have a copy of the original LP that I bought new back when it came out ("Masterdisk RL" in the deadwax), and that's my favorite version, but I also have a great vinyl-rip of that same pressing. I can't remember the last time I listened to this album on CD. We're talking 7 or 8 years at least. It's a digital recording, but there's something special about that original LP.

By the way, does anybody know what pro-turntable that is on the cover?

Artwork
The album's cover artwork features a photo of Donald Fagen as a deejay wearing a collared shirt and tie, speaking into a microphone (an RCA 77DX). Before him lies a turntable (16 inch '50s model, with a Para-Flux A-16 tonearm), an ashtray, and a pack of Chesterfield King cigarettes. Visible on the table with the record player, is the cover of the 1958 jazz album Sonny Rollins and the Contemporary Leaders (also credited in the liner notes). On the wall behind Fagen is a large clock, indicating that the time is 4:09.
