Musical Fidelity V-DAC ii

I am in the market for a DAC to hook up to my McIntosh system via Airplay. I have my eye on Musical Fidelity's V-DAC ii, but non the of the reviews are very glorious about it. I don't want to spend too much because airplay only supports 16-bit, but maybe soon it will support 24-bit. Any recommendations for a better DAC in the same price range? Should I stick with the MF V-DAC ii?

I have a first version and i like it - there are several dacs in the price range that are comparable - rdac, dacmagic , maverick (one for sale on Bartertown) ones that are the next level up are MF m1, simaudio 100d, Rega.
