My First Sansui Power Amp!

It's in nice shape but opening bid puts me out of it right off the bat.

dont worry broonsbane your not the only one that the opeining bid puts out of bidding.:tears: .i'm sure though the ba 2000 that your getting will suffice until you find one.

I recently grabbed a Sansui CA-2000 pre, and will be running it with a Denon POA 1500 metered amplifier.

I'll keep you posted on how I like the pre-amp.

It'll be mated with a Sansui TU-717 tuner

way to go on the ca2000 i'm also interested in your thoughs on the preamp.i need to get either the ca2000 or ca3000 eventually to go with my ba 3000 ,TU9900 AND TU717 setup.i'm currently using a AU-666 for preamp duties until i find one.

Like I need all the power of a the BA5K anyway. The BA2K will do just nicely.
Keep your eyes peeled up there in Winnipeg for a pair of CA2000/3000's ;)

Well, I got my new baby today.

What a beautifully built amp, I'm very very happy with it. I'll use the AU-717 as a pre for now but I would like to find a CA-2000 or 3000 to go with it.

Aw, geeze, Thunder Bay will never be the same (probably all the way to the Manitoba border too!) :lmao:

Beautiful. How does it sound? What speakers are you running it with?

It sounds great. Different than the 717 but similar at the same time. I think it sounds a little warmer but has a better cleaner bottom end. It's been driving my Braun L810's. It does seem to get quite warm over the heatsinks driving the 4ohm load.

If they can hear me at the Manitoba border it means I'm now deaf and my livingroom has exploded! :music:

See Mike, there you go. Who needs a CR-2040 after all? :D
Nice amp my friend. Hope she sounds as tough as she looks.

The BA-2000 does sound great, now to find it's bigger brother next...

That is an awesome looking Sansui amp - congratulations! :music:

I hope I stumble over one of these at a yard sale - I know they're out there!

Me too! I'm going to find one this weekend actually. Hey, if you're gonna dream go big!

Maybe other BA-2000 owners can chime in here...how warm/hot does yours run? Does anyone have the service manual for this beast?

the ba 2000 looks great broonsbane:thmbsp:.i cant comment on how hot they run but i'm sure someone will chime in.

Well, normally I'd be happy to oblige but I've been told by a tech to not use it until it gets serviced :(

I've got the schematics and service manual ordered and will bring it to my tech once they get here. It just gets too hot and something is not quite right with her.

Do you think the BA2000 is capable of driving 4ohm speakers? You'd think it would but maybe it is getting so stinking hot because of the load.

That is a nice looking amp BroonsBane. I got mine several years ago at a garage sale. Mine also ran hot on one channel. I found that one pair of output transistors on that channel were replaced with ECG transistors. That pair ran very hot compared to the Sankin original pair. I replaced all four transitors on that channel with Onsemi and set the bias. It now runs just slightly warm to the touch. My speaker are JBL L100's (8 ohms). I also would like to find a CA-2000 preamp but for now I will use my HK Citation Eleven.

Well, I brought it in to my tech's yesterday. He says he'll call me this coming Wednesday to give me an update. I'm hoping for the best here :)

BTW, while I have only very briefly used it since I've had it I have used my AU-717 as the pre until I can find a nice CA-2000.
