my mind is literally blown about how great my new Sony TA-N77ES actually is.

Jesus H ....

this is some crazy stuff man... I have had some powerful gear for awhile... Pioneer VSX-D1S and a Onkyo Intgra Stack...M5030 / P3030 but this Sony stack just wrecks them...

but yesterday..i go to goodwill on a lark and walk out with a freaking Sony TA-N77ES Amp(near mint) TA-E77ESD (preamp) and matching tuner, cassette, surround processor and a sony N110 amp for $75 :music:

I've been listening to this thing pretty much all day w/ my DCM Timeframe TF250's (the Pioneer VSX-D1S had been driving them previously) and this is just night and day... this sony set up is just unbelievable... I'm apparently done buying gear.. (besides speakers maybe) .. this is by far the best sounding thing I have ever heard.

Freaking life changing (perhaps exaggerating...but barely if so).

I'm hearing things like I have never experienced them before....

I must have done some karma building at some point... cause this is the best thing i have ever gotten for $75

IKR... this goodwill is on my radar becaue it is where I got my Monitor Audio Silver S1 speakers for $11 :music: and last week I got a pair of really nice condition ADS 400 speakers for $20

and i also got a Sony C75ES changer there for $20 awhile ago also.

I believe that is the scroe of the century!

Welcome to the big ES club.

Your C 75ES is a great player too. Move the Pioneer stuff out and the power amp towards the bottom and your system is complete!

thanx ... the big ES club seems to be a AWESOME club to have joined so far ..

good advice ...I'm looking at culling my somewhat hard to manage horde of gear.. that pioneer gear is probably going shortly here.

Please consider not stacking gears with breathing holes on top - they need space up there to cool...especially the power amp.

Congrats on the score ! You must be so happy...

I hate to say I told ya so, but.... :D

I'm afraid that rack will fall apart soon.
Those thin glass shelves even if they are tempered, aren't meant for that load.

hmm paranoid now... the rack is rated for well over 100lbs on the top shelf... I think..

but I'm going to be moving a bunch of stuff out of here so I will move the amp down to the lower shelf shortly.

Welcome to the ES fan club. I absolutely love my TA-N77ES. I had the meter bulbs converted to LEDs. I've accumulated the matching pre-amp, along with a tuner, two CD players, a single tape deck, and the turntable. All for a lot more than you paid, I freely admit.

For $75 you've got the score of the century there. I'm flabbergasted that GW did not do a little research on the net, and failed to discover the N77ES alone goes for $800 or more on Ebay.

Also, I agree with other posters regarding the stack. PLEASE, PLEASE get the N77ES close to the floor, it is way too heavy to be that far up in the air. I would abandon that rack all together, and get something a lot lower. The ES components are very, very heavy, and I would be very afraid that rack would collapse without warning, destroying your prized possessions. The N77ES should be on a study solid shelf by itself, with lots of room for air circulation.

The next sound you might hear that you've never heard before could be shattering glass and an amplifier pancaking everything underneath it.

Yep,I'd move that 25 kg power-amp and TT ASAP before the glass cracks. I had a L-07D TT,Trio Model 600 amp,and a Trio Model 600T tuner with a combined weight of around 68 kg all on top one sheet of tempered glass. Luckily,a member made me see sense... feelin' a lot happier, not to mention safer now.

That's as good as it gets for ES. Very nice stack of gear. The N77ES is an amazing beast - Sony did some nice work back then. Congrats! :thmbsp:
