Dead from the neck up
After two trips to the ER (one for stitches and the other to remove them), I found my blood pressure was sky high (working on Showcase Homes didn't help matters). The Doc gave me some description blood pressure medicine, of which the insurance only paid $13 (bastards).

Anyway, I am tiring out quickly, having occasional dizzy spells and I get pissed off twice as easily as I usually do.

To give you an idea here, I almost scrapped a Philco I was restoring because there was a bug I couldn't solve. I finally got it working after taking a long break from it.

I am reminded of the Archie Bunker episode where Edith was going through menopause. The only thing I didn't yell was "STIFLE." If this is what I have to look forward to, maybe I'm better off with hypertension.

Hi Big Dave!

I too am on BP medicine,Atenol.Hang in there it will get better.However,your Doctor has to find the RX that is right for you.This means some experimentation,not just "take this once a day,Bye Dave"
If the one you have is right for you the dizziness,moodiness and other symptoms will subside.Big caution,watch out for over the counter cold medicines,I.E Dimetap,cough syrup,very dangerous when you are taking BP meds

Florence is on Lotril and her BP is lower than mine (and mine is not high). The part about dizzyness can be that the medication is lowering the BP below 110/60, so getting out of a chair too fast, etc. will hit you. I'm about 125/75 most days, Doc says I'm bad for business..

The machine she first used had the usual arm band and was a bear to use because if you did not pump it high enough the reading was ERROR and you had to wait 30 minutes to take it again. Then she bought the Braun that goes around your wrists and is automatic, plus it has memory so your Doctor can review the daily readings.

Medicine is not yet a "exact science" and the advice above sounds like what I have learned from friends of mine who have gone through the same ordeal.

Hang in there, Dave,it'll get better. Last year, when mine was sky-high, they put me on 3 different kinds, Toprol, Altace, & Cardizem. Kinda "goofed" me up at first, until I got used to them. Lose some weight-I'll about guarantee you got told that-& maybe start walking a mile or so at night, &do what they tell ya, & hopefully, you'll be OK. -Sandy G.
 
Been on BP Meds for most of my life now and it sux but you do get used to it. Takes your body several weeks to adjust to the meds. If after that time you still feel all those symptoms then you should see your doc again. Hope you feel better soon.

I'm now on a new med. Monday, I was still feeling the side effects. It was so bad, I called the boss and went to an urgent care. The doc took me off the shitty stuff and gave me new. So far, no side effects.
