My unemployed view of audio

We all need to use this example to do what we know we should have done before this crunch hit. Stop pissing away money for a while and start getting our "Emergency Fund" together. 3 to 6 months of expences saved for the rainy day. Start today!

Reading this post I was sadden to hear you were laid off. Bobbed my head in unison; reading how priorities are run amuck.

But most of all, pleased you have found employment.

Good luck on your new job.

and in fact, best wishes and and good luck to all who may be in similar situations and concerns.

:thmbsp: On your thread and your new job. Makes one realize that excess is the mother of reflection.

Wow, Denny, that was an excellent post. :thmbsp:

Probably one of the best posts I have read on AK in terms of honest insight into what's important.

You will do great in the new job. Many congrats and here is one more dancing banana.

Congratulations! It will be wise for all of us to take your comments and your perspective to heart. Well said sir. :thmbsp:

Many of the values of "The Greatest Generation" (I suspect represented by most of our parents and grand-parents) came as a result of their experiences during the great depression are at last beginning to be recognized and appreciated today. If there is a silver lining to today's economic events I hope and pray that those values will relearned and restored.

I can't forget to say thanks to my best friend in world.

I have been getting together every year with five high school friends for the last twelve years. We would usually get together in the fall and rent a cabin for the weekend. Relax and have a good time doing different things together.

A couple years ago we were able to take an out of state trip to Chicago. It was a blast. Well this year one of the guys was able to find some super cheap tickets to New York. I have always wanted to visit the Big Apple and everyone decided that it would be fun.

After losing my job I had concerns of not being able to afford going even though I had already bought my plane ticket. A couple of the guys called and said they would be willing to chip in but I told them I didn't feel right about borrowing the money. I got this email from Darren (MAXZ28) the next day.

Just So You Know...

...you're coming to NYC with us whether you like it or not. You're my best friend and I want you there with me. I'll cover you so you don't have to worry about spending the money or when you can pay me back or whatever. I just want you to come and I think it would do wonders for your outlook on things.

Let's focus on enjoying the trip - it will be a blast and I'll have more fun knowing you decided to come along instead of stay home. There's noone else I'd rather go to NYC for the first time with.

You know I won't accept no for an answer, buddy. :D
So please say YES!

I care about you, man!

I mean it really brought tears to my eyes to read it. How could I say no? I think of Darren as my second brother. How could someone ask for a better friend?

I was still a little afraid I might not be able to go as it depended if my new employer was willing to let me get away for a couple days. I was glad to hear he said yes. He must be a hell of a nice guy as he said we all have lives other than just work. I thinking I will like this new place.

Denny

Congratulations on the new job, and thanks for sharing the stories and reminders of what is important in life.

Sounds like you've got some great Karma going there... found a job in a difficult job market, have an understanding new boss, have some great friends, still get to go on your trip without money worries AND keep the new job... a lot to be grateful for, but I'm sure you deserve it. Again, congratulations!

Pass on the excess gear to newbies and drag them into the scene too :)

Enjoy the best of your stuff as your "core system(s)" and have fun at the new job :)

Denny,

Your thoughts are right on the money...........Congratulations and good luck with your new job!!

Congrats on your new job (I wish you the very best!!!) and thanks for sharing your insights. I'm sure we all learned something from it. :thmbsp:
