my vintage sansui vs $2000 modern dts for stereo

guys i was
wondering if i should keep my vintage
amps ,
1) Sansui alpha 907 imos limited ,
And the more oldy but recapped
2) sansui AU 9500. or let em go for a denon avr 3313. Or the
marantz 7003
the recent amps have so much technology
to offer . Features of the past maynot be
a match for them .
But i cannot take the plunge without understanding the real benefits i would
get from the AVRs.
The audyssey (room acoustics manager)
thing is really tempting.
So i ask AKers who have experience of
both these amp generations . And to know which really does well for music
alone .

I am not familiar with the modern amps. But I am thinking, that Sansui is ok, I have had a few peices and they all had problems. so my feelings may be jaded. what I like about the modern equipment is that they use fiberglass circuit boards they seem to run cooler and have a lot of useful features like sub out and all that. If you are a vintage minded collector that has to have vintage,,, keep the Sansui stuff and save up by working overtime or selling other stuff so you can have both, or sell off the vintage and get the new setup, remember today's equipment is tomorrow's vintage. the new stuff will be more reliable. My thoughts on this.

I have a Sansui combo (AU-717, TU-717) and I love them. I also love my Denon AVR-3803, which I recently moved to my bedroom with a Denon DVD-2900 after getting new gear for my TV room. To answer your question if I could have only one of those systems I'll take the Denon every time. Remote, reliable, sounds fantastic in 2-channel, and has an impressive build quality. The same can be said about the Sansui stack...but to my ears the Denon is a bit smoother. (The 'sui wins easily for AM/FM however)

Your Denon has similar qualities and the benefit of being much more recent.

You don't need an A/V receiver for the benefits of modern technology. Harman Kardon has their HK990 2-channel integrated amp that has built-in DSP room correction, and several other nice features. I'm sure there are others out there besides the H/K, but that is a very intriguing choice.
