Na Ohms/power ?

The "Power" to drive..... What you need to drive the sub in it's 2 or 4 ohm modes is a rugged amplifier. If you like it loud, choose an amp that has a high wattage rating too, but make sure the amp can drive 2 and/or 4 ohm loads. It's not the "power" that is important, it's the current capability and the thermal performance of the amp that will determine if it can handle the 2 and 4 ohm modes. 8 ohms is relatively easy for most amps.

The lower the speaker impedance, the more power your amp is forced to deliver. IOW, the lower the impedance, the more your amp is stressed.

Eight ohms is a safe load for virtually any amp.

Four ohms can be pushing it unless you have a VERY rugged amp.

Two ohms is generally only for automotive use where that impedance is fairly common and many amps are designed with that in mind.

As was said, know what your amp can handle.

I bought a sub woofer that can be wired 2-4-8 Ohms, does the power needed to drive vary between settings?

If you're talking about the power on the output side of the amp, no, the thermal rating is the same no matter what impedance configuration is chosen.

I'm just really curious what coil config. can be wired like that...dual 4's can't be wired to get a 4 ohm load, unless you're putting a resistor across the coil like the Ascendant Audio subs used to have.

I don't know why there's a 4 ohm option listed. 99% of the time, you want both voice coils connected...the other 1% are special cases that you generally don't have to worry about. With a 4 ohm DVC woofer, you have a choice between a 2 and 8 ohm final load.

However, you said your amp was only capable of 100W...which may not be enough to really get the most out of that driver.

Having a problem editing my post...this is how you'd wire it for an 8 ohm load:

Hi and thanks, that is how it is wired in the link in my post. I am running an 8ohm receiver and question is there less power used wired that way or am I still loading the amp to much?
