Nad 6155

Hi,

I have one of these and the fast forward and fast reverse work, but the play does not. When I push play, all belts and gears seem to be moving smoothly, but the take up spindle is not moving, so the player just automatically shuts off.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

John

Hi

I have more information.

I took off the plate that covers the surface behind the spindles, and I see what I think is called the "idler tire." When I push play, it moves a little bit, but does not engage with the take up spindle. It looks like the idler tire is supposed to come into contact with a surface of the take up spindle.

Any idea why the idler tire would not engage with the spindle?

Thanks,
John

The idler tire swings over based on movement of the direction motor. Try moving it back and forth and see if it is well lubricated on the swing-arm shaft, and make sure the mode-cam is dropping the nylon blocking plate (behind the main mechanism plate) down low enough to allow the idler arm to swing over.

Sorry to revive this ancient post, but I am having this same trouble. Is it possible for somebody to provide more information about which part is which? The 6155 is the only non-functioning NAD piece from the original purchase back in 1984. Thanks!
