Need a 7" take up reel.

I was wondering if anybody near Austin Texas has a 7" take up reel they could sell me. I let a friend of mine borrow my RT-707 to transfer his old tapes to cd. When he got done, he threw away his old tapes and my take up reel. Now I have no way to play my tapes since I only had that one take up reel. I don't even know where to buy one of those besides the big auction sight. I figure I would try here first. A plastic one will work just fine until I find an original Pioneer one. If anybody has one that they could sell me let me know. Thanks.

Take up reel

I can send you a tape if you want to take the tape off and use as a take up reel. I will go look and see if I have a spare take up as well. Send me a pm with your address and I will put one in the mail asap.

Ralph let me know if Tarheel can't get you all setup I just bought about 30 reels of junk tape I would be glad to pick you out a nice reel and peel the tape off it. All it would cost you is the shipping maybe $2-3.00 I would guess.

You could just go to an audio store near you and ask. Ones that have been around for a while are likely to have a few old empty reels just lying around gathering dust. It wouldn't hurt to offer to pay a few bucks for one, but they're likely to give you one for free.

That's how I got mine. Of course, this was at a store I've done a lot of business with over the years.

Well I want to thank Tarheel and this forum. He came through for me and sent me a take up reel and didn't even charge me anything. What a guy. Thanks again and here is the r2r back in action.

Need a 7" take-up reel

Panotaker,

I'm an old hi-fi buff - and a new member to this site.

This might be a little late response to your question but it may help others looking for 7" reel2reel tapes and or blank reels.

Try your local "Rat Shack" - mine has one of each on hand and will also take orders if out of stock.

Cheers,

A metal Pioneer or Maxell take up reel will cost you about $30 - $50. Plastic ones are a lot cheaper, even free :-)
