Need a long sub cable

Was going to roll my own but unfortunately high quality RG59 cable seems to be in line with BJCs pricing for premade cables once you get into long lengths. Just buy BJC, or is there a discount online surplus place that sells good coax for cheap? Bonus points if using stranded center conductor for flexibility, this will have to make a few tight bends.

Thanks!

I'm a big fan of BJC . I think they make an excellent cable at a fair price. I think you're on the right track . My 2c

I like BJC too. But, if you don't mind the ends already installed, there is always Monoprice. $10 for 50ft.

Two questions:
1. How long?
2. Why specifically coax?

FWIW, coax is technically correct for unbalanced signals. It's not hugely technical, but it is a decent read none the less: https://www.bluejeanscable.com/articles/balanced.htm

That said, many moons ago I did make my sub cable from inexpensive Belden shielded twisted pair and still using it. If I was redoing it today I'd almost certainly use coax.

RG-59 type typically fits well into all the right stuff - coaxial, reasonably low capacitance, usually but not always all copper center conductor and shield (as opposed to RG-6 type which is often/usually but, not always, CCS core and aluminum braid), relatively inexpensive, and relatively small diameter.

Belden 1505F is a RG-59 type cable and a good one at that.

I'm using one of those now... I am slowly getting rid of all my heavy Monoprice cables because they don't seem to grip well. Attempting to adjust the grip by bending the fingers on the RCAs results in them snapping.

HOWEVER... maybe I will just buy a Monoprice cable and reterminate with better ends. That's actually a good idea and I need some more Velcro straps too.

I dunno if it's stranded core though... saw the double braid copper shield vs. braid and foil so thought that might be a good one for longer run.

I have a 35 foot long BJC very good however This cable was damaged and I replaced it with 15 foot Mediaridge cable that cost $9.99 cents it is very well made the RCA plugs are of good quality. This is a LFE connection and you know what I cannot tell the difference. They have a 50 foot version for $19.99.
