Need a pre-amp...

Hey all, been a while since I have posted and there has been some advancement in my progress, which is basically build a collection of vintage audio gear during my retirement. So far I have a Kenwood kr9600, Pioneer SA 8500, Kenwood kr 6600, and an Akai AA1200. Those are my amps. My speakers consist of a pair of CV cls215, a pair of CV cls15, a set of Pioneer HPM-100, a set of Realistic Mach 1, and a pair of Klipsch Cornwalls from 1976. Those actually hung in the Olympic Stadium during the 1976 Olympics in Montreal before ending up downtown in a music studio. They have some history.

Anyway, ya, I am slowly getting there, but now I am looking for a bit of help. I am in dire need of an EQ and a pre-amp, preferably all in one. I am for the most part, a silver faceplate collector, but will settle for black if I have to. Multiple inputs required. I can find all kinds of pre-amps with multiple inputs, and I can find all kinda of EQs, but I can't seem to find the two combined in one, but I know they exist because I did run into one a while back. I had the chance to read a bit of the description then wouldn't you know it, the power went out, my computer shut down, and I have not been able to find it since. I think it was a Kenwood...mid 70's to early 80's maybe? Sound familiar to anyone?

If not, do you know of anything that might fit what I am looking for?

Just don't get too technical and keep it in layman terms. I am still a noob and still learning.

Most Yamaha pre-amps have parametric EQ's.. Unfortunately there all pretty much black face.

Soundcraftsmen made some like that back in the day.
IIRC the model numbers were PE 2217 -and- SP 4002.

I believe there may have been other units like that too.
I vaguely remeber Spectro Acoustics having a similar one as well.

If any others come to mind I'll pop back in and update.

Yes, I have seen some used Yamahas like you speak of, always black. They also seemed to have digital meters if you know what I mean. You know....move with the beat. Not what I am looking for. Would like simple slide bands with a single led light....in silver.

Thank you. I will look into those. Both are brands that I have never heard of. My brand knowledge is limited to the more popular old school. Fisher, Akai, Sansui, Realistic, Pioneer, Nad, Rotel, Marantz, Kenwood, Sony, JVC, Yamaha, Harmon Kardon, Technics......you get the picture. Lol

No.. Parametric EQ's on pre-amps don't have dancing lights. --- Multi band EQ's have spectrum analysers with dancing lights. EQ's and Pre-amps( control amplifiers ) are two totally different pieces of gear.

Both of those would suit me just fine. Even the black one because of the silver trim. I found a few for sale on hifishark, but too far away or too expensive for shipping, but I will keep on searching. I am not in a rush and very patient. If you think of anything else like that, please share. I appreciate it. Thanks.

Got it, and thanks for clarifying that. I am a work in progress and still have a lot to learn. But don't worry, I catch on quick. I am visual. Speak the words and I am slow. Show me a pic and I am like, "ok, got it". Lol

You guys are suggesting pretty much exactly what I need, but they all seem pretty rare. Well not exactly rare, but not too common either. But hey, I am used to that. It took me 3 years to find a pair of the 200 watt Pioneer HPM-100 that didn't require 15 hour drive one way or $800 in shipping.
