Need a Stax Recommendation

Howdy all,
I just bought a Stax SRM-T1 headphone amp. Got a deal I couldn’t pass up and I’ve always wanted to try Stax ear speakers. Which Stax headphones pair well with the SRM-T1? New, used or vintage are all open options.

My listening tastes are jazz, classic rock, progressive rock, and some classical. I’m not interested in the enhanced bass of modern headphones. For reference, my main system in a dedicated listening room is vintage Linn preamp & amps feeding NewForm Research R645 speakers. Absolutely love ribbon tweeters.

Any guidance / experience will be greatly appreciated.

I recently acquired the same amp as you and I paired mine with a new pair of SR-L500mk2 I managed to get off the bay for a couple hundred less then the cost of a new pair directly from Stax. They literally have the same specs as the SR-L700mk2 earspeakers, the only difference is the L500 earpads are a soft vinyl instead of the lambskin used on the L700's. My son has the SRM-1 amp and I had the opportunity to A/B both amps with the L500's and preferred the T1 sound over the SRM-1. Eventually I'd like to roll some tubes in the T1 to see if I can find something I like better but for the time being it's very nice the way it is.

BTW, if you weren't aware you can remove the bottom panel from the T1 and you'll find an internal voltage selector. My unit has a label on the back of the unit that sez 100 volt only, mine is now running on 120/117 volts without the use of a step down transformer or variac.

I'd be interested to hear what your thoughts are after you get your earspeakers.

They've been in business since 1938 and are very much still in business today.

Hello

No STAX sart business in 1938 but the company today is not the same at all
They don't want to talk about all the electret and electrostatics headphone with normal polarization made a long time ago
All the actual production is high polarization headphones only
They don't repair any other products no made by the actual company (preamplifiers, amplifiers,CD players...)
 
I may have read about what clinic-audio was discussing and took it to be they were going under. No support essentially means buy a new one and get no support for it. What good would that be?
