Don't know if anyone brought this up, but I'm new and I'll give a shot.I'v come across some RTR's,DCM TF250, Pioneer DSS E6. I have a sansui G-5000. I was wandering if anyone have these speakers hook to sansui and what do they think. I did get the pioneer, but as soon as I turn them up the surrounds flew off.

If anyone is in need of or could used the remaining pioneer DSS E6 mid, ribbon tweeter, crossovers, or even the whole speaker cabinets (2) both of them let me know. All they need is new woofers. I don't like the lows from these cabinets. Other than that they might hit the trash.

Based on the 3 minutes worth of research I just did, those Pioneers appear to of the Elite variety. I can't say they're the best of the bunch (never heard any of them), but they should definitely be worth the effort to re-foam.

Well gatorvrx, there are 2 sets locally where I'm at. I'll check out the TF250 since they are asking only $45 and it is in VG condition. Could even bargin to get it lower. The other set is a little more.

MarkAnderson, The moment I had my hands on the woofer the cone broke and there was scratching noise from the coil when I move the cone.

I had some TF 600's, amd I regret lettting them go some years back. The 250's won't be any where the capabilities of the 600's I had, but if they are in good shape and you can talk him down, I say go for it. But at the end of the day, you have to listen to them and see if they are to your liking.

I did come accross some TF 700's in VG shape less the sock a few weeks back for $50 bucks but didn't know much about it for I've never seen a speaker like it. After doing a few day research, went back to check somebody beat me to it.

Yeah, like I said earlier, I let a pair of 600's go and regret it. I'm always looking for another pair of Time Frames in decent shape.

I have a set of nice vintage RtR HPR-12 Magnums which I am very happy with. They are very efficient and have extremely good bass response. If you search they and other RtR's come up on Ebay or local CL's. I believe there is a set on Ebay now, Acculabs (Made by RtR I believe) that might go for an affordable price.

I listen to all kinds of music from Metelica to Enya. I like bright highs, warm mids, and clear solid bass. The guy is only asking for 15 bucks for the RTR series 3 which are 3 way. If I buy it with the pioneer cs-206 it would be 20 for both pair. They are in VG shape. I know at this asking price you can't go wrong at all. I might just take my G-5000 over and see how it sounds.

One caveat the Timframes aren't rockers and don't have house shaking low bass. If you listen to a lot of Metalica you wouldn't like them without a sub, on Jazz, or classical, or "Enya" however they are mindblowers with a huge soundstage and very sweet midrange and clear treble.

He's right. I've had many pairs of TimeFrames, and they sound amazing with jazz, classical, but they aren't rock and rock speakers. They sound fine with R&R, but not as good as some others in that price range.

What is the difference in the TF model #s, like 250, 275 and so on. Is it the higher the # the bigger/better or vice versa? Imaging is also important to me too when listen to music.

Generally, the higher the number, the higher up in the TF "line" the speakers were. Sometimes this means more drivers, sometimes not. In the case of the TF 600 VS the TF 1000, this did NOT mean more drivers or, in my opinion, better sound. The TF 600 has at least one (and there are other threads on AK that address this) rear-firing tweeter. It also has a woofer (8" or 6.5", can't remember) with a coax mid-range, I believe. The TF 1000 has only three drivers with no rear-firing tweeters. The TF 400, 500, and 600 are all similar, but I really like the 600 for all-around great sound an imaging. Hope this helps!

I'm spoiled with TimeWindows; I don't feel the Frames employ the idea as well. Ignore that they look like lamp stands or end tables--close your eyes and you'll see.

But OTOH, if you ever hear a set of TF 2000's driven by a 250wpc Yamaha pro amp, those monoliths will give you your Metallica just fine in most sized rooms!
