Need help with overhang on JVC tt

Hello all. I have a JVC jl-a20 turntable and need help setting the stylus overhang. There is an indicator on the table for overhang but it is 1/4" wide. Does anyone have a similiar table? I am not sure if I set the overhang at the beginning of the indicator or at the end. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Brian.

There's an overhang marking on the TT?:scratch2:
I'll have to go to my dad's house and check that, I bought and set the TT for him and didn't even notice that. interesting.

I was checking out the user manual for a similar JVC model and it showed the stylus centered over the marker.

I found a manual for the jvc jl-40 and it shows a circular indicator (it looks like its a bullseye, with a dot in the middle) with the stylus over the dot. The indicator on mine is a solid horseshoe shape. I have the stylus set in the middle of the indicator, but I wonder if it would be better at one extreme or the other. Brian

The distance from the tip of the stylus to the washer at the back of the headshell should be 48mm.

The measurement was taken from my JVC JL-A40.:music:

It is is on loan at the moment.

Yeah, there is. It's a little "cartouche" shaped indentation in the base just next to the edge of the platter. I had a JL-A15 and centered the stylus tip in that indentation. It sounded fine that way but precise alignment could vary as a function of the cartridge/stylus being used so I'd play with it within the range indicated to see if there's a "sweet spot".*

*I don't know why I said that. :dunno:
