new city dump finds!! technics and Harmon Kardon decks.need help pls

Hi everyone, well i "somehow" managed to find myself at a city recycling center..hahah i found 2 tape decks...one is a

Technics RS M14
and the other..
a harmon/kardon TD192

Have any of you hear of these two units? they both work well..the only thing is that with the HK, the electric VU meters are not functioning well..some come one and alot don't come on....what do you do when they are not working? do i need a new VU display? is there anything to check/clean out to get them all working? thanks

Not familiar with the HK deck, but the Technics is, while nothing special, is still a pretty decent deck. I had the one right below it, the RS-M205 which looked pretty much the same, but with mechanical VU meters. It would make a good tape and sounded pretty good, but it was entry level all the same. All in all worth saving from the dump to either use or pass on to someone who already does not have a deck.
