New Music Suggestions Thread (2005 and up)

From the amount of threads I have seen pop up in the past few years with the new vs. old argument, it would probably be a good idea to have a thread where users can post suggestions of newer music so other users have a place to look. This will either become a valuable thread, or it will get completely buried. I think it would be best to do it by suggesting songs with links that could get someone interested in the artist. If they like what they hear, they can dig deeper. Suggesting entire albums and thinking people will try them all is much less realistic than a song or two per artist. If they like the songs, they'll try albums on their own. Discussions on postings/songs should be fine, but don't derail it too much and try to keep it to suggestions.

Great 2000's sampler, many great tunes, and there's even some I haven't heard of or gotten around to yet.

I'll be the first to admit that much of what I post in there is not winnowed down to "what I definitely like", but, rather, 1st tries for me, but I've found a lot of music I like and listen to fairly regularly as well.

When I started posting in there I was pretty new to the whole post late 90's music scene (for a multitude of reasons) and now I've got a respectable collection of 2000's and beyond material which I'll keep expanding as I go. There is, or should not be, any decade of music which merits categorical dismissal, especially a priori dismissal, imo.

Hopefully more will contribute to that thread so we can all find some new-to-us material that we enjoy...there's so much out there! :thmbsp:

My wife is totally hooked on these guys. Toronto band country folk vibe. We have seen them a couple times and they are very good. I think they have two albums out during the past couple of years.

Yea, I think I did too. So to be on topic, I'll try to post some links to songs from new artists/bands as I get the time.

Here's a soul/funk/pop artist that I've just listened to. She has 3 albums, all of which I recently posted in the 21st century thread. She can really belt out a song! Here's some vids I found on Youtube but they are only the ones I can find, not necessarily the best songs.
