The new MX150 12-channel, 2-zone Audio Video Preamplifier from McIntosh is designed to command the most
advanced home theater installations with a potent suite of features including multiple subwoofer and center channel
configurations, an electronic crossover function and on-board RoomPerfectTM processing. System settings are saved and
software updates performed via USB and Compact Flash. A built in Web Interface allows remote control, set up and
service of the MX150 from any connected browser. The latest audio processing insures seamless compatibility with
BluRay disc players. Incoming digital audio signals are re-clocked to minimize jitter for the best possible audio
performance. The MX150 is ready to decode both Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio formats in addition to
Dolby Pro Logic II, Dolby Pro Logic IIx, Dolby Digital 5.1, Dolby Digital EX, Dolby Digital Plus, DTS 5.1, DTS ES,
Discrete 6.1, DTS ES Matrix 6.1, DTS Neo 6, and DTS 96/24.
Five HDMI, five Component, two S-Video and two Composite video inputs guarantee room to grow and are assignable
per source. Video signals are minimally processed in order to preserve their integrity and maximize hardware
compatibility. Analog video is transcoded to digital HDMI with the original scan type, line resolution and frame rate
preserved. HDMI video is passed through unaltered.
The MX150 boasts 12 channels of audio output. The four extra channels may be configured in a number of exciting ways.
An active crossover feature allows biamping of front loudspeakers, while multiple subwoofer and multiple center channel
options expand the performance potential far beyond typical surround sound installations. No mere exercise in channel
stacking, these output scenarios are fully integrated by the on board RoomPerfectTM processing: Crossover, EQ, Delay,
Level and Phase are all optimized in the process.
The audio processor and room correction work in concert to automatically set loudspeaker level, delay, bass management,
crossover and room equalization. This process is exceedingly accurate. For instance, loudspeaker distances are set to
within a fraction of an inch tolerance. The image steering and three-dimensionality resulting from this process simply
must be heard to be believed.
Two pairs of balanced inputs combine with balanced outputs and a differential balanced audio topology to deliver superb
low level linearity. Single-ended connections include a moving magnet phono stage and a multi-channel input as well as
eight assignable stereo inputs. Coaxial, optical and AES/EBU balanced digital audio inputs are provided. An on-screen
user interface is menu-driven and intuitive for ease of system set up. An RS232 input offers compatibility with third party
remote systems while McIntosh Power Control and Data Ports enable the MX150 to operate your entire McIntosh system
from a single hand-held remote.
With features and functionality far beyond those of typical A/V preamplifiers, the MX150 sets a new standard for high
performance home theater.
