Nice little score, enjoy. :)

Hello aje123, Welcome to AK. Really nice RS find on the sta-21. If you need the owners and service manuals they are on HiFiEngine.com. https://www.hifiengine.com/manual_library/realistic/sta-21.shtml. Just register and download for free. RS made some nice gear. Enjoy the music. Check out this on RS. http://www.radioshackcatalogs.com/. Brings back memories of the stores growing up. Check the caps in the speakers. Might be needing replacement if the highs sound dull, lower than they should be.

hey NAD80,Thanks. I see your from Pa,im originally from Wilkes-Barre,Pa been in Tx. since 2006. I have been in Carlisle for car shows. Thank You

Some car show days we stay out for the day to avoid the traffic. Had to recap my Mission 757Rs to bring back the tweeters. High ESR in the caps. Your welcome. And welcome to AK if I haven't said it before.

A nice little find, a set of Minimus 7s would be great with that for a small room......I love Realistic gear. One thing that lower end RS stuff had was nice cases. The lower end of the big guys usually had cheap cases and Realistic until the mid 80s used wooden cases.

Considering how ubiquitous RS stuff was, I am amazed I have yet to find any of their Audio stuff at sales or thrift stores in my travels. Well that's not completely true, I did grab a pair of Minumus 7's a couple years ago for 2 bucks. I have found plenty of other Realistic stuff, in fact I found another of those little transistor weather radios a few months ago. Now I have the original "Cube" shaped one and this one which is flatter and rectangular. Both work, and are in good aesthetic shape. Had to super-glue the little push on/off bar on the cube, but otherwise its fine.

yeh i know these were the lower end back in the day but still made better than anything today.when i was real young i was amazed in RS store all the shiny stereo with all the fancy knobs. I just think we all were??

Nice Marantz Bodyblue, wish i could find one of those for a nice price someday maybe?? Thank You

Nice find on the receiver! Big realistic fan, picked up some MC-1000s this past weekend for the the same price you paid for the receiver. Its just good classic rat shack gear. :)

Keep your eyes open, you will find more gear with time. This hobby is a lot of fun, half the fun is the hunt!

Kind Regards,
John

yes ,you got that wright the hunt is the most fun.Ambition is the key. It is just so tough to come across decent vintage stereo eqip. in good shape for a good fee.My trouble is i cant stop, maybe a little OCD? Thank You

No it's not OCD it's a love for music, And good quality gear. :)

A few things I've done to find good repairable gear is to visit E-waste places, usually places like this will salvage precious metals, but at times taken in random other gear they toss or donate. I actually pulled a pioneer SX-1250 for $40 bucks in clean working cond. there is a thread on my rebuild somewhere on the site. Ended up swapping it for a set of Marantz 250Ms and a 3800 preamp.

Also hit up thrift stores often, CRaigslist as well. Don't just search "vintage speakers" learn about the gear you want to find and search it, you would be shocked at how many times I've found amazing deals due to the poster having an odd title, or random obscure pictures of "household items".. search brand names, Sansui, pioneer, Marantz... etc... also look in the "free" section, and musical instruments, many times people will post gear in that section of CL and it gets little to no attention. Many many many sets of speakers I have found, many sets orb JBLs, most of them can be found on AK I usually document those finds. Just to much fun.

Lastly, get involved with other audio nuts in your area, sooner or later you will find a few friends who are just as into the hobby and will share good information.

I'm quite passionate about music, gear is 2nd to me but I always keep an eye open for more. :)

Kind Regards,
John
