New Speaker Stands

I needed a small pair of speaker stands last night and didn't have the enthusiasm to start a project and make something proper, so I dug around in the garage and this is what I ended up with. The speakers are KLH 17s, which aren't too heavy, and the wine boxes are surprisingly sturdy and seem to work fine for now (or until my wife says otherwise).

Yeah--I used to drink the cheapest stuff, but have moved to these boxes lately. I have also found several uses for the boxes, including to hold up speakers that I want to lay on a table to work on. Just put a box or two down first (depending on how big the speaker is) and lay the speaker on it/them. It's especially handy to do a Feed-N-Wax treatment because it holds the speaker off the table.
