Thought I'd pop in here to make myself known. I've been over at Videokarma since 2016 and gradually been learning to work on electronics, mostly tube radios. TVs are much more complicated and temperamental but I'm getting there.
Anyway, a few weeks ago I bought a Pioneer SX-1010 at an estate sale for the bargain price of $40. Cosmetic condition is 9/10 and it works well but with the age, it's due for a rebuild and I would like to do it myself. Realizing the SX-1010 wouldn't be an ideal candidate for a novice restorer, I went on eBay and bought an SX-535 which arrived the other day. The plan is to order a rebuild kit for that one and get started recapping it soon.
My dad is a longtime hifi enthusiast and member of this forum. He is gifting me a Pioneer PL-41A turntable which should pair nicely with the SX-1010 eventually.
