New vinyl being pressed by people who don't own turntables and thus don't care?

I don't know if this is related, but last month I bought a copy of Alice On Chains latest album Black Gives Way To Blue, Its a double album set and is pressed on clear vinyl, and came packaged with the CD as well. All for $21. I didn't know the vinyl was clear till i opened it. I only played 1 song (Check My Brain) on the vinyl because I want to keep it in 100% mint condition. The album sounded great!. I only opened it to get the CD out, but I figured I'd peak at the actual album itself, and after I liked at it I figured I'd play a track from it.

Some day I may understand the idea of having an album and not playing it... but I seriously doubt that will happen... What good is a record if you don't listen to it???

Interesting thread. Rather unusual to judge someone based on a couple of sentence fragements coupled with assumptions.

So he has a bidet.

Really? If there are enough people willing to pay $30 for an LP, then that is what is should cost.

Completely disagree with you. $30.00 for one LP, no matter the claim (virgin vinyl, 180 gram, etc...) IS too much. You are paying for the experience of opening a new record, smelling the fresh vinyl, seeing unsmudged surfaces and hopefully hearing a great recording. But it's overpriced! Really, a new CD is a better deal. It's cheaper and you know what you're getting.

I think you meant to say: "Really? If there are enough people willing to pay $30 for an LP, then that is what it's worth." I don't disagree with that statement.

Well I was speaking from an economics point of view. From the sellers perspective it should be priced at what the market will bear. With that said I stand by my original statement, "If there are enough people willing to pay $30 for an LP, then that is what it should cost."

My take, too. And Sam's earlier.

I don't think the op has been convinced.

My wife has been in medicine 40 years. She sure as hell is not going to read a med-surgery text at home.
