Newest addition to my HK stack - HK750 int. amp (w/nudies)

Today I received the newest addition to my growing stack of HK silver-face gear - a $10 HK750 integrated amplifier. Typical HK diseases - scratches on the face and intermittent/weak channels due to dirty switches. An hour and a half of cleaning later and she's good to go on all cylinders. Bias and offset were very good right out of the box.

This is the smallest HK amp I've ever seen - 15 inches wide by 3 inches tall, especially given its 70 wpc. There's a lot of power packed into this small package, starting with its toroidal amp and two giant aluminum heat sinks. By necessity every else is crammed pretty tightly in up front, making pot and switch cleaning a very close quarters affair.

The last picture shows it along with my other recent acquisition, a B&O Beogram 1700 turntable with the MMC20EN cartridge. As you can see the TT kinda dwarfs this compact amp. It's getting the full listen treatment starting this afternoon, and so far sounds very powerful and clean driving two sets of speakers. I'd have loved to have this thing back in my college dorm room in the day - slight but deadly.

I bought one of these new in 1979-80(?).I used it in a system comprised of a Rega Planar 3/Grace G-707 arm/Supex SD 900E cartridge coupled to AR 18 speakers.

A very nice sounding system.

The amp got stolen a year or so later.C'est la Vie. :sigh:

Sweet amp and a steal for 10 bucks! I'm definitely got my eyes open for potential playmates for my hk460i.

Incidentally, does anyone know where I might get a replacement power button for that 460? I'm getting tired of using a chopstick to turn it on. :)
