From what I've read in posts, they are not great speakers. Garage speakers. I would offer $25.

I think I would just pass altogether. But that's just me. Something better is bound to come along. YMMV, of course.

I would guess they would sound rolled off, and boxy and not image very well but have a pleasant midrange. If they're anything like any of the other speakers I've had that look like this (their are nicer looking ones if you like this look).

They're Pioneer's cheap brand, Sonic. For what they are, they sound surprisingly decent. I gave my parents a pair for their basement - but I got them for free. Not sure I'd spend any money on them, and certainly not $40.
