Dumb question for you 7wales7, can the Alpha 230 run in mono or as monoblocks?

The Alpha 230 can't run in mono unless you are using a Nikko-BTL network bridging unit. The Alpha VI, 650 and 2000 can run in mono.

View attachment 1124587 It does not mention it, but it has that switch for direct or normal? And I can't remember what it's for, I use to know, Lol! thanks. It is a surprisingly heavy little amp.

Normal inserts a capacitor inline with the output, direct could potentially allow DC to pass.
Use what sounds best, if you can’t tell use normal to be safe.

The Alpha 2 is dual mono as well (but not mosfet), including two independent power sources!

I favor old discrete transistor, few or no IC era Nikko to Mitsubishi on build quality, reliability, sound quality, and on longevity. Nikko made some nice, underrated sleeper equipment of nice quality.

I agree. Good inexpensive gear.

Great discussion on all this. So far its Nikko 6 plus comments and Mitsu 1. A lot of positive Nikko comments like solid, quality and built like a tank, both here and other places, and clearly repairable and also able to be modified for the better as well. Not much on the Mitsu, but maybe there were just not that many of them to begin with.

Mitsubishi gear is a little hard to come by, they have some really cool stuff.

I have a Mitsubishi Dp-EC8 turntable that I love, sounds great, full auto , lots of bells and whistles, looks killer. And never had a problem.I would say they have some nice gear. Kyocera is under the radar to, look up their history to as a company.
